17th Century Stone Watermill in the south of France
Moulin de Pattus is a beautiful 17th century stone watermill in the heart of the Gard countryside in the sunny south of
France.
It lies on the Vidourle river, a short walk across fields to the pretty
village of
Salinelles and 3km from the picturesque medieval town of
Sommieres. The cities of
Nimes and
Montpellier (each with their own airport) are about half an hour away.
Sandy beaches of the
Mediterranean are about 35 mins away.
The mill has a heated swimming pool, its own river beach with two-person kayaks, games room (pool table, table tennis), mini football pitch, and an adventure playground for young children. The area surrounding the mill is idyllic countryside ... superb for peaceful walks, cycling and fishing.
The mill comprises three gites (holiday residences) ... each with their own separate entrance, spacious living rooms and outside living area.
The largest
giteRiver End has five bedrooms and two bathrooms; Massette has three bedrooms and
two bathrooms; and Aubriete has three bedrooms and one bathroom.
The mill is owned by Sarah and Stephen Gray, English-born Australians who lived there full-time with their family up until recently.
Stephen and Sarah have spent the last three years renovating the mill to the highest standard possible. They have used quality fixtures and fittings, and inspired design to blend rustic charm with modern convenience. As a result, the mill in its entirety can achieve more than $10,000 a week in rental income during the high season.
Shareholders
With Sarah and Stephen now based in
Australia, they have decided to property share the mill, keeping a single share for themselves.
Seventeen shares will be offered (the Grays share makes a total of 18). Each shareholder will be entitled to a 9-10 week allocation. For two of those weeks, you will have access to the whole mill (two weeks of the whole mill equates to six weeks of your allocation). Having the whole mill to yourselves is perfect if you want to invite friends, extended family or even business associates and clients to enjoy the French experience with you.
For the rest of that block of time (4-5 weeks), you will have access to just one of the gites. However, the share co-operatives unique points system means that you will be able to trade time from your allocation for added flexibility.
The roster is rotating and has been designed to maximise shareholders access to the warmer months of the year and to be absolutely fair to everyone.
